The Chief of Atwima Yabi in the Atwima Kwanwoma District of the Ashanti Region, Kontomere Kwame Frimpong Ababio, has paid a heartfelt tribute to the late Queen Mother of the Ashanti Kingdom, Nana Konadu Yiadom III.
The late Queen Mother’s passing was officially announced by the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, during a meeting with the Asanteman Council on Monday.
In his tribute, Kontomere Kwame Frimpong Ababio described the late Asantehemaa as an affable, dedicated, and unifying leader who played a crucial role in promoting harmony and stability in the Ashanti Kingdom.
According to him, her reign, which spanned eight years, was marked by wisdom, compassion, and a genuine commitment to the welfare of her people.
The Yabihene, in an interview with the DAILY GUIDE, recounted that Nana Konadu Yiadom III was deeply respected not only within the Ashanti Kingdom but also across the nation for her motherly nature and ability to resolve disputes with fairness and tact.
He noted that her calm demeanor and open-door approach endeared her to both traditional leaders and ordinary citizens, making her a symbol of peace and unity.
“She was a true mother to all,” Kontomere Kwame Frimpong Ababio said.
“Her dedication to the well-being of the Ashanti Kingdom and her tireless efforts to maintain unity among the people will forever remain in our hearts. Her passing is not only a loss to Asanteman but to the entire country,” he added.
The chief further commended the late Queen Mother’s role in preserving and promoting Ashanti culture and traditions, highlighting her guidance to young women and her support for community development initiatives.
He added that Nana Konadu Yiadom III’s legacy would continue to inspire generations to come.
Nana Konadu Yiadom III, who reigned as Asantehemaa for eight years, passed away at the age of 98.
As part of customary arrangements, the one-week observance will be held on Thursday, August 21, at the Forecourt of the Manhyia Palace.
The event is expected to draw chiefs, dignitaries, and mourners from all over Ghana and beyond, as Asanteman gathers to honour the life and service of its revered Queen Mother.
