The vice president being welcomed by the National Chief Imam Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu at the Kotoka International Airport yesterday
Vice President Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and his wife, Hajia Samira Bawumia, arrived yesterday to the waiting reception of many well-wishers who had been monitoring his arrival date.
His residence at Kanda was a beehive of activities, as many of his well-wishers and party personalities trooped to the place to show their love to the vice president and his wife and gratitude to God for returning him safely to Ghana.
One of the most important side attractions of his pilgrimage was his hosting by Saudi King Salman Bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud last Wednesday.
The vice president paid a courtesy call on President Alassane Ouattarra in Muzdallifah,- one of the most important spots of the pilgrimage.
The two, according to Alhaji Alhassan Tampuli, CEO National Petroleum Authority (NPA), who was part of the government delegation accompanying the vice president, met again when the Saudi King hosted heads of states and other foreign dignitaries to lunch in Mina.
The third encounter was when they were both at the mosque of the Holy Prophet in Madina, where both dignitaries and others said the congregational Friday prayer another aspect of the pilgrimage.
The Ivorian strongman, Mr. Tampuli, used the rare opportunity to offer his condolences through him to the president and the people of Ghana on the passing away of Mr. Kofi Annan, former UN Secretary General.
