Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia
Former Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has won the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential primary in the Northern, Savannah and North East regions.
Delegates across the three regions overwhelmingly voted for Dr. Bawumia as the NPP’s presidential candidate for the 2028 election.
Northern Region
Dr. Bawumia secured 9,272 votes, defeating Dr. Bryan Acheampong, who garnered 1,594 votes; Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, 811; Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, 88; and Kwabena Agyei Agyepong 42.
Savannah Region
Dr. Bawumia polled 2,863 votes, ahead of Dr. Bryan Acheampong, 552; Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, 403; Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, 32; and Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, 13.
North East Region
Dr. Bawumia secured 3,227 votes, with Kennedy Ohene Agyapong polling 169; Dr. Bryan Acheampong, 103; Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, 14; and Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, 8.
Delegates from the Northern, Savannah and North East regions said they believe Dr. Bawumia is the most marketable and experienced candidate to help the NPP regain power from the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2028 general election.
