Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia
Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has ordered and provided financial support for the construction 5,280 dual desks to support 66 schools in the West Mamprusi Municipality.
The support follows a request made to him by the Municipal Assembly in collaboration with the West Mamprusi Municipal Education Oversight Committee (MEOC) to support some of the schools in the municipality.
The Vice President, in his response, directed the West Mamprusi Municipal Assembly as a matter of urgency to construct 5,280 dual desks to support about 10,000 pupils in various schools in different communities in the municipality.
This is the second time the Vice President has supported education in the municipality with furniture for the past three years, as he gave 1,000 dual desks in 2022 to the District Assembly for distribution.
The beneficiary schools are Janga Mozu M/A Basic, Nasia D/A Basic School, Guabuluga RC, Kparigu Marikaz, Duu M/A KG/ Primary, Tiya KG/Primary, Bugya MA Primary, Wale ‘2’ Presby Primary A, Walewale MA Primary B, Daboya NO.2 MA Primary, Kukua NO. 2 Basic School, Tinguri RC Primary, Zangum Basic School, Wulugu Albakaria, Wulugu MA JHS, Nabari MA Primary, Kparipiri MA Primary, Nayorku MA Primary, Walewale Tawhidia EA KG, Manga MA Primary, Nakpaya MA Primary and Bugya MA JHS.
Others are Nayorku Imam Husein EA, Gbimsi St. Anthony RC Primary, Walewale St. Paul RC Primary, Walewale DA JHS, Nasiria Tampulugu EA Primary, Yama Marikaz EA KG/Primary, Sariba MA KG/Primary, Diani Presby Basic School, Kurugu MA Basic, Loagri EA Basic, Zangu Yakura Basic, Zangu Vuga MA Basic, Watania JHS, Bulbia MA KG Primary, Nameyela MA Primary, Jarigbani RC Primary, Loagri Kukua RC JHS, Suhuluya MA KG/Primary, Dibisi D/A Basic, Walewale Marikaz EA KG/Primary, and Gbimsi MA JHS.

The Municipal Chief Executive of the West Mamprusi, Arimeyaw Somo Lucky Basintale, who made this known to the media, disclosed that the Vice President directed that local artisans from the municipality should be engaged to do the work in order to boost local economic development.
He also called on the Ministry of Education to come to the aid of the remaining schools with furniture challenges in the district.
Some headteachers in the municipality expressed their excitement about the gesture from the Vice President, adding that the lack of furniture in their schools affects teaching and learning.
