Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia will from today Sunday, 6th August, 2023 begin a long week campaign tour in the Eastern Region, the home Region of President Akufo-Addo to sell his message to the delegates in order to give him the nod to become the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Presidential candidate for the 2024 elections.
Dr Bawumia will begin the campaign from the Akuapem Bloc, where he will be meeting the delegates from the Akuapem North, South, Okere and Yilo Krobo constituencies respectively and interact with them.
On Monday, he will engage the delegates on the Krobo Bloc starting from Asuogyaman, then move to the other blocs such as; Kwahu, Akyem, and Koforidua to engage with the delegates, as well as also commission some government projects and attend public gatherings.
Ahead of the upcoming Presidential primary, a lot of women groups rooting for Vice-President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia to be elected flag bearer of the party have been launched in the region.
The groups have pledged to massively vote for Dr Bawumia to lead the party in the 2024 general election as they have targeted 80 per cent votes for him.
Majority Chief Whip and MP for Nsawam/ Adoagyiri, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, who is leading the Agenda to elect Bawumia as a flagbearer of the party has urged all women in the NPP to act as campaign ambassadors in their various constituencies in the region to mobilise the needed votes for Dr Bawumia to win the upcoming presidential primary to lead the party to victory at next year’s general election.
So far, the Vice President has toured Greater Accra, Ashanti, Central and Western Regions respectively, where he met with delegates to communicate his vision for the country and gain more support from party delegates ahead of the Presidential Primary in August and November this year.
Dr Bawumia’s announcement of his political ambitions has set the stage for an exciting contest against other potential candidates within the NPP.
As the campaign heats up, delegates of the NPP will be looking very closely at the potential candidates’ visions and track records, considering who is best suited to lead the party and secure victory in the 2024 general elections.
Dr. Bawumia’s political acumen has earned him significant contributions to the NPP’s victories in the 2016 and 2020 elections, making him a strong contender for the NPP Presidency.
His campaign tour aims to further his political ambitions and communicate his vision for the country to party delegates.
With Dr Bawumia’s move to the Eastern Region, it is expected that his campaign team will be working hard to ensure that he gains the required support from party delegates in the Region.
The battle for the NPP’s Presidential candidacy promises to be intense, as the party seeks to present a candidate with the best chance of winning the 2024 election.
