Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia
Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia was reported ill yesterday.
A statement from the Flagstaff House and signed by Director of Communications, Eugene Arhin, in the afternoon stated, “The Vice President of the Republic, Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, in the early hours of Friday, 19th January, 2018, reported feeling unwell.
“He was attended to by his doctors, and is currently undergoing medical tests and observation. Any further information will be duly communicated.”
The statement put to rest initial speculations which suggested that Dr Bawumia collapsed and had to be rushed to the hospital for medical attention.
That speculation was mainly being fuelled by opposition elements, especially on social media.
Some concerned people took to social media, especially WhatsApp groups and Facebook walls to wish the vice president well and speedy recovery, offering him their prayers.
As at the time of filing this report, Dr Bawumia was said to be at home resting and his scheduled meetings and other engagements had been suspended.
