Bekwai DCE Daughter’s Autopsy Today

Akua Serwaa Kyei

PATHOLOGISTS ARE expected to perform autopsy on the body of the daughter of the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Bekwai, Kwaku Kyei Baffuor, today, Monday, August 7, 2023, to ascertain the cause of her death.

Police sources say there were no marks of gunshot or violence on the deceased, Akua Serwaa Kyei, who was reportedly found lying unconscious at the back of their house at Atwima Bebu in the Ashanti Region on August 3, 2023 at 5:30pm.

She was, reportedly, declared dead upon arrival at the hospital, where her distraught husband had rushed her in a desperate attempt to help save her life.

Reports making rounds indicate that the late Serwaa Kyei was five months pregnant when she lost her life.

Cause of Death

So far, there have been contradictory reports with regards to what really caused the demise of Serwaa Kyei on Thursday evening.

Some reports said Serwaa Kyei was shot and killed instantly without provocation by a group of hoodlums, who invaded her room for robbery expedition.

While other reports, also said Serwaa Kyei, who was under attack by the robbers, had her neck rather twisted.

Police Report

Meanwhile, a police report has clearly debunked the two aforementioned assertions, pointing out that no trace of gunshot or violence was found on the body.

According to the police, the widower claimed that their living room and bedroom were ransacked and a television set stolen by the runaway robbers, who attacked their home.

The police, however, said “An initial assessment of the incident scene by the Police Crime Scene team revealed that no doors or windows in the house had been broken into.”

“Also, upon an inspection of the deceased body at the hospital, no marks of violence or gunshot wound was found,” part of the police statement disclosed.

The police document further stated that the body of Serwaa Kyei has since been deposited at the morgue for preservation and autopsy, as investigation is ongoing.

Top Police Source

Meanwhile, a top police source informed the DAILY GUIDE that since no marks of violence or gunshot wounds were found on the body, autopsy was the only solution.

“Latest by the close of Monday, autopsy would have been performed on the body to help the police investigators to ascertain what really killed the woman,” she disclosed.

IGP’s Intervention

In a related development, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), George Akuffo Dampare, is said to have assured the bereaved family, via a telephone call, of a thorough investigation into the case.

“The police have visited the family of the deceased and we are working with them to get to the bottom of the matter and bring perpetrators to face justice.

“A police clinical psychologist has also been assigned to the family to assist them in these trying times,” a police statement quoted the IGP for making these statements.
