Albert Kan Dapaah – National Security Minister
Government has debunked media reports that the Director of the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI), William Kwasi Appiah, has been sent packing.
Rather, the Information Minister, Dr. Abdul-Hamid Mustapha, says the man has been reassigned.
A statement signed by the minister indicated that the decision was part of a restructuring exercise at the country’s security outfit.
The statement named the Director-General of the Research Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Rasheed Seidu Inusah, as the substantive BNI Director.
Peter Nyarko Opata is taking over from Seidu Inusah as Director of the Research Department of the foreign affairs ministry. He was hitherto the Deputy Director at the department.
According to the statement, Mr William Kwasi Appiah is heading to the Ministry of National Security.
The statement did not mention the specific role that has been assigned to him.
“Government announces to the information of the general public that the President has with immediate effect, made changes with the national security outfit,” the statement indicated.
