Information reaching DAILY GUIDE indicates that one Rahinatu Alidu, a matron at the Buipe Senior High School (SHS) in the Central Gonja District of the Northern Region, has been arrested for stealing some food items belonging to the school.
The arrest came after days of monitoring and tracking of the matron by the assembly woman for the Buipe electoral area, Barchisu, who also doubles as the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) chairperson for the school.
Reports indicates that information got to the assembly woman about how a SSayong passenger vehicle, loaded with bags of rice, sugar, soap and other items, was making its way to Tamale from Buipe with Madam Rahinatu Alidu on board.
She quickly arranged through the assembly man of the Fufulso electoral area to get the vehicle impounded at the barrier. The assembly man, one Yakubu, made a complaint to the police and the vehicle was subsequently  seized at a check point at Fufulso Damongo Junction, and sent back to the Buipe police station.
Upon searching it and the matron’s house, it was revealed that cartons of milk, sugar, maize and rice were found in her room.
The headmistress of the school, Mercy Algba, was shocked for seeing the items.
The Northern Regional Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Yussif Mohammed Tanko, who confirmed the incident to DAILY GUIDE, said on 22/10/17 at about 1300 hrs, police on duty at Fufulso check point, upon a tip-off, intercepted a SSangyong mini bus with registration number AW 3864-13 loaded with a quantify of foodstuffs suspected to have been stolen from the Buipe Senior High School.
According to ASP Yussif Mohammed Tanko, upon questioning the driver and his mate, they mentioned Rahinatu Alidu as the owner of the goods.
He indicated that the matron, the driver and the mate were on police enquiry bail assisting in investigation.
