American rapper Cardi B has thrown her support behind Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic Party’s candidate for the United States presidential election.
Cardi B had previously suggested that Harris should be the Democratic Party’s nominee following President Joe Biden’s debate with Republican candidate Donald Trump.
The excitement was palpable when news broke that President Joe Biden had stepped down as the Democratic Party candidate and endorsed Harris as the party’s flagbearer.
Responding on her X handle, Cardi B wrote, “Aha hahaha let’s go! I told y’all Kamala (Harris) was supposed to be the 2024 candidate… Stop f*ckin playin with me!”
This endorsement comes after Cardi B expressed dissatisfaction with the potential rematch between Biden and Trump in the November poll.
In an interview with Rolling Stone in May, she stated that she would not vote if the two major candidates remained Biden and Trump.
While she saw Trump as “a dire threat”, she described her experience under Biden as filled with “layers and layers of disappointment” due to perceived domestic and foreign mismanagement.
President Joe Biden officially stepped down as the Democratic Party candidate on Sunday, endorsing Kamala Harris to lead the party into the upcoming election.
