Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu tasting water from the borehole at the Kumasi Central Prisons
THE CHIEF Imam, Sheikh Nuhu Osman Sharubutu, has provided fresh drinking water for inmates at the Kumasi Central Prison.
This follows the construction of a borehole project with poly tanks to ensure the constant flow of potable drinking water.
Alhaji Inusah Salley, who is prominent Muslim businessman based in Accra, the national capital, sponsored the borehole project.
This follows a request by the Ashanti Regional Prisons Commander, DDP Samuel Owusu Amposa, and Alhaji Papa Angola.
Alhaji Salley wanted the blessings of the project to go to his parents, Hajiya Aisha Ibrahim Sika and his late dad.
Sheikh Osman Sharubutu was the first person to taste water from the newly dug borehole on Saturday morning.
This was during the official commissioning of the project. It was graced by Muslim leaders in Kumasi and prisons officers.
The commissioning of the project would certainly go a long way to solve the water challenges in the penitentiary.
The Chief Imam, who is highly revered by Muslims in the country, prayed that the borehole would be a blessing to the inmates.
He entreated the public to always remember prisoners in their prayers so that they can be reformed whilst they serve their sentences.
The Chief Imam also urged the well-to-do in society to always extend a helping hand to prisoners so they can live better.
Sheikh Mohammed Ridwan, CEO of Alpha Radio and Aminu M. Zakari, MCE for Ayawaso North Municipal Assembly, were present.
