The suspect at the police station
A 42-year old cocoa purchasing clerk, John Sakyim is in the grips of the Bogoso police command for allegedly killing a 58 year old farmer, Oppong Gyasi at Insu-Suading in the Prestea Huni Valley District of the Western Region, over land dispute.
The police officer at the Bogoso police station, Chief Inspector Foster Berko told journalists that Oppong Gyasi went to his farm on Monday but did not return home.
A search party was therefore organized on Tuesday to look for him. The following day, the search party found the deceased’s lifeless body with deep machete wounds at the back of his neck covered with leaves in the bush.
A report was made to the Bogoso police who went for the lifeless body to the morgue.
According to Inspector Berko, further investigations by the police revealed that John Sakyim and Oppong Gyasi litigated over a piece of land some time ago and the suspect allegedly threatened to kill the deceased.
Upon interrogations, John Sakyi confirmed killing Oppong Gyasi. The suspect had been placed in police custody and would soon be hauled before court.
