The Octagon
President Akufo-Addo yesterday cut the tape for the official opening of The Octagon – the plush business complex overlooking the Accra City Hotel in the heart of the capital (Accra).
In the course of his brief speech, the president paused to commend the immediate past Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE) for Accra, Alfred Okoe Vanderpuije, for the role he played in seeing to The Octagon becoming a reality during his tenure of office.
“Mr Vanderpuije, congratulations; I say well done. That’s a good job done for Ghana,” President Akufo-Addo expressed.
He described the promoters of Dream Realty Limited – the estate developing company that financed the building of the complex, the Fakhry family – as part and parcel of his life, saying, “They are part of the structure of my life, the architecture of Ghana. They’ve been here for generations, they’ve made such important contribution to the development of our country and it’s only right that I should come and support them on this occasion.”
The Octagon is designed for high seismic areas and prides itself in offering its potential inhabitants with first-class rate safety, security features and top notch living innovations for the future.
Apart from a spacious underground car park, office space and a hotel, it also boasts of a helipad – a clearly marked flat surface on the highest roof of the building where a helicopter can land safely.
