Constitution Day Lecture For Monday

Barring any last-minute hitches the Ministry of Information (MOI) will hold the maiden edition of the Constitution Day Public Lecture on Monday, January 7, 2019.

A press release issued by the Ministry and signed by the Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, said the lecture would be delivered by the Rector of the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), Professor Philip Ebow Bondzi-Simpson at the Ghana Academy of Arts and Sciences.

He will be speaking on the topic “Constitutionalism in Ghana’s Fourth Republic: Towards Functional Performance.”

According to the release, the Constitution Day is in recognition of the commencement of the 4th Republican constitutional dispensation on January 7, 1993.

It said the day has also been set aside to acknowledge the country’s collective efforts at ensuring that the tenets of democracy, rule of law and principles of constitutionalism are upheld.

The Ministry, therefore, urged the general public to participate in the public lecture, which is to be held at the Ghana Academy of Arts and Sciences in Accra.

It’s expected to be broadcast live on major media platforms and the social media handles of the ministry.
