THE TAFO Circuit Court in Kumasi has remanded Beauty Inakwe, a Nigerian national who tortured a nine-year-old girl she was staying with at Duase, into prison for two weeks.
The suspect, reportedly, poured hot water on one hand of the little girl and also used a sharp knife to cut open the wrist area of the other hand because the girl had defecated in their room.
Beauty Inakwe, who is alleged to be a sex worker, during her maiden appearance in court, was ordered to remain in prison for two weeks as the prosecution team investigate the case further.
According to reports, the victim, whose name was not disclosed for security reasons, was brought from Nigeria to stay with Beauty, who also has another child, at Duase near Kumasi.
Beauty, reportedly, always goes out in the night and lock the two children in the room, which has no toilet facility.
Since they were locked in the room, the victim could not get access to a public toilet facility to ease herself, so she was compelled ease herself in a plastic bag in their room.
The girl’s action, eyewitnesses alleged, got Beauty angry, so she subjected the little girl to severe and unimaginable torture of cutting her hand and also pouring hot water on her.
According to reports, Beauty was also severely manhandled by residents of the area before being handed over to the police, who initially granted her bail to seek medical attention.
Some Good Samaritans in the community, who could not withstand the pain that the little girl was experiencing, have decided to take care of her, so she can recuperate.
