FIFTEEN RESIDENTS in the Atebubu Amantin Municipality in Bono East Region have been fined GH¢100 each by the Atebubu Magistrate Court for failing to wear nose masks.
Wearing of face mask in public is now mandatory and it forms part of the measures to contain the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The defaulters included 11 males and four females.
They were fined on their own plea of guilt and would go to jail for a month if any of them failed to pay the fine as pronounced by the presiding judge, Joseph Twumasi.
Chief Inspector Isaac Bono told the court that the recalcitrant residents were arrested on some principal streets of Atebubu by the Atebubu Amantin Covid-19 Taskforce set up to ensure compliance with Covid-19 protocols in the municipality.
He said they were all not wearing face masks in public, which was against the Covid-19 protocols.
