Dr. George Akuffo Dampare
The police administration has dismissed as fake news reports suggesting that the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, has been asked to proceed on leave.
A statement issued yesterday and signed by ACP Grace Ansah-Akrofi of Police Public Affairs Directorate, said the IGP still remained in office, leading the Ghana Police Service.
It asked the public to disregard the said reports and treat them with the contempt it deserves.
“The attention of the Ghana Police Service has been drawn to some media reports suggesting that the Inspector General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, has been asked to proceed on leave.
“We would like to urge the public to disregard this fake news and treat same with the contempt it deserves.
“The Inspector General of Police remains committed to his patriotic duty of leading the Ghana Police Service as per the mandate given him by the President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo,” the statement asserted.
