Davidson Band Takes Ghanaian Music Global

THE United Kingdom (UK)-based Davidson Band, once again portrayed their dominance on the entertainment landscape when its popular song was adjudged the UK-based Highlife Song of the Year at the Ghana Music Awards UK (GMA-UK 2021) held in London on October 9.

The GMA-UK was organised by Alordia Promotions led by Eric Nii Tetteh, popularly called DJ Alordia. It was to reward Ghanaian music icons for their commitment, hard work and dedication in their music career.

The award adds to the numerous ones that the band has over the years received in the UK, Europe and other parts of the world.

The leader of the band, Charles Davidson, known in the music circles as Kweku Nyame, speaking after receiving the award, expressed the band’s gratitude to the organisers of the awards scheme for the award.

He expressed its profound appreciation to all its fans in Ghana and beyond for their immense contribution towards the growth of the band.

It also expressed gratitude to radio presenters and DJs in Ghana, and UK among others for providing it with the needed platform on their various stations to promote its music and brand.

Kwaku Nyame underscored that for the past years, the group has been involved in the propagation, and promotion of Ghanaian music on the international music market.

Formed to promote Ghanaian music, both at home and abroad, the group has gained recognition throughout Ghana, the West African sub-region and Europe.

According to him, the band which has been in existence for over a decade was working tirelessly to promote Ghanaian music, adding that from next year the band would embark on series of projects and musical events to promote Ghanaian music on the global music market.

BEATWAVES gathered that the band, which provides entertainment for all age groups at various events, apart from promoting highlife tunes play all genre of music and could boast of their unique and dynamic style of stage performance.

“It is not possible to attend a Davidson Band music concert of any kind and you will not be moved to dance,” he noted.

With their music and style of play, the members of the band have managed to convince some music critics in Ghana and Europe that they are among the best in town when it comes to live band music.

The Davidson band, launched in 2007 by its founder and leader Kweku Nyame, has performed on several music platforms in Europe.
