Raymond Nana Damptey, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Birim North in the Eastern Region, on Monday suspended about 89 staff of the assembly for coming to work very late.

He said the workers are supposed to report at exactly 8:30 am.

On the day he took the action, only 11 staff were present at the assembly.

The Birim North DCE said that he would do everything possible to change the attitude of the staff towards work.

Speaking on other issues, he stressed that the Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) has provided 1, 890,500 cocoa seedlings to farmers in the district to promote farming.

He revealed that a police barrier would soon be mounted on the New Abirim Road to tackle armed robberies in the area.
