DIPLOMATIC HONOURS – an awards ceremony designed to recognise, honor and celebrate outstanding diplomats and emissaries in Ghana and beyond for their contributions towards national, regional and global peace and stability, among others– is scheduled to be held on Saturday, September 14, 2024 at the Accra International Conference Center (AICC) at 6pm, organisers have announced.
Put together by the Diplomatic Affairs and Media Communications Limited (DAMC), in collaboration with Ghana’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration (MFARI), the event will celebrate the notable efforts and achievements by diplomats in the field of diplomacy and international relations; while providing a platform for renewed commitments towards lasting national, regional and international peace and stability.
“Being held under the theme, ‘Leveraging Diplomacy for Industrialisation, Sustainable Development, Peace and Security’, the event will particularly recognise foreign service officers, players, actors as well as change makers within the diplomatic space, who have demonstrated exceptional commitment, innovation, and leadership in fostering international cooperation and advancing global peace and security over the years; with an aim of highlighting the vital role that diplomacy plays in helping create a more connected and peaceful world”, said Ms. Harriet Nartey, Founder and Executive Director of DAMC in a release sighted by Daily Guide.
The event, being its maiden edition, will also see diplomats and foreign service officers pick up awards in various categories including Excellence in Peace and Security; Economic Diplomacy; Sustainable Development Goals; Cultural Diplomacy; and Distinguished Career in Diplomacy.
Others are International Foreign Service; Sports Diplomacy; Global Africa; Public Diplomacy; Outstanding Development Partner of the Year and many others.
Keynote addresses will also be delivered by prominent figures within and beyond the diplomatic scene
