The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) has indicated its readiness for the smooth registration of vehicles during the New Year.
According to the Authority, it has put in place measures including online registration and verification processes to ease the physical interaction with officers when registering new vehicles in the first three months of the New Year.
Making a presentation during a media engagement with DVLA officials, Deputy Director in charge of Vehicle Inspection and Registration, Eric Addison, said customers can have some aspects of their vehicle registration process done online and in the comfort of their homes.
He indicated that the six-step process is seamless, adding that the digitisation of the system aims to enhance customer experience, integrate data, and secure customer data.
He further noted that with the new system, the Authority expects to see a lot more of the vehicles being registered across the country.
“One of the key reasons why we have migrated from the manual registration to the online or the digital platform is to enhance customer experience, to secure data and seamlessly integrate data,” he explained.
Regional Officers Ready
Mr. Addison also noted that customers can register their vehicles in their respective regions and have the same services as they would receive in Accra.
He said customers can visit the various regional DVLA registration centres for any required services, including preferred number plate.
He noted that there is no fixed fee for a particular service due to the types of cars, stressing that all charges are approved by Parliament based on the Fees and Charges regulation.
He urged the public to desist from engaging middle men known as ‘goro boys’ in the acquisition of driver’s licence, among other services.
Deputy Chief Executive, Services, Kwame Appiah-Kubi, in his remarks noted the importance of public education on the online registration, indicating that the Authority has held series of activities to increase public awareness about the platform.
He thus noted the importance of holding an engagement with a key stakeholder such as the media.
