Officials of the Electoral Commission (EC) and Members of Parliament (MPs) will meet today in the House for a brief on the preparations for the 2024 elections.
Second Deputy Speaker, Andrew Asiamah Amoako, who announced this yesterday, said today is a big day for MPs to hear from the EC to ensure that everyone is on the same page.
“Tomorrow we will be meeting the Electoral Commission. They are going to be here at our instance,” he began, his voice commanding attention.
“We have invited them to come and brief us on the preparation they have made so far toward the 2024 elections,” he added.
The Second Deputy Speaker encouraged the MPs to get started promptly at 10 am, pointing out that they needed to make time to meet with the EC at 11 am.
“So please, tomorrow business will start at 10 o’clock, so that we can make time and meet them at 11 o’clock. Let’s make time to meet them,” he stressed.
According to him, he expects everyone to be in the chamber, bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, intimating that they could not afford to waste a single minute.
The MPs murmured in agreement, making mental notes to arrive early and be prepared for the important meeting.
As the meeting was adjourned by the Presiding Speaker, they filed out of the chamber, their minds focused on the task ahead.
Today, they will gather again, ready to engage with the Electoral Commission and ensure that the 2024 elections are conducted with the highest level of integrity.
