EC Rejects NDC Request For Voter Register Live Broadcast

Jean Mensa

The Electoral Commission (EC) has rejected a request by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to broadcast live a meeting to discuss discrepancies in the Provisional Voters Register (PVR) ahead of the December 7 general elections.

In a letter dated September 4, 2024, the NDC requested the EC to allow a live broadcast of the meeting, which is scheduled to take place on September 10, 2024.

However, the EC has turned down the request, stating that it is not necessary to broadcast the meeting live.

According to the EC, the identification of discrepancies in the PVR by the NDC is not a new phenomenon and, therefore, does not require a live broadcast.

The Commission assured the NDC that it is committed to ensuring the credibility of the PVR and that the meeting will be held as scheduled.

The meeting between the EC and the NDC is scheduled to take place on September 10, 2024, and will discuss discrepancies in the PVR, including missing names, misplaced voters, and duplicate images.

The EC has assured the public that it is committed to ensuring the credibility of the PVR and that the meeting will be held as scheduled.
