The Ekumfi Youth Association (EKUYA) has brought relief to underprivileged basic school pupils in the Ekumfi District of the Central Region through a donation of educational materials.

The donation, fully funded by members of the association, was aimed at easing the burden on the pupils.

The association distributed 1,000 customised exercise books to pupils across five basic schools — Abaka Basic School, Emissano Basic School, Abor Basic School, Etibeedu Basic School, and Atwa Basic School — in the Ekumfi District.

Speaking to the media, the secretary of the association, Joseph Cobbina, noted that the donation was driven by the association’s vision, dubbed “One People, One Vision,” aimed at supporting underprivileged in society.

He added that the donation would help improve the academic performance of beneficiaries, expressing optimism that it would yield positive outcomes.

“The donation is expected to boost educational outcomes by easing access to necessary materials, enhancing student attendance, reducing dropout rates, and inspiring a stronger focus on learning — ultimately helping the pupils perform better academically and build a brighter future,” Mr. Cobbina noted.

Mr. Cobbina also called on well-meaning individuals to support their cause by investing in education within the community. He said this would help empower pupils to achieve greatness and uplift the Central Region.

“We call on individuals who have the means to invest in local education. They can do so by funding scholarships, donating resources, and encouraging community development projects that empower these young learners and uplift the entire community,” he added.

Receiving the items, headmasters of the beneficiary schools commended EKUYA for the timely intervention.

The headmaster of Ekumfi Abor Basic School, David Takyi Mensah, noted that the donation came at a critical time when many pupils faced challenges, including a shortage of exercise books.

“Most of our pupils are not able to copy notes during lessons, and when you ask them they say they don’t have books. So this donation will help them a lot,” Mr. Takyi Mensah stated.
