Fadi Tells BNI He Read ‘Mahama Impregnated A Lady’ In Newspapers

A Ghanaian-born Lebanese who was detained by security officials says the defamatory claims about the President for which he was arrested originated from newspapers.

Hassan Tampuli, lawyer for Fadi Daboussie, says his client told officials of the Bureau of National investigations he only repeated the comments complained about after first reading them in two newspapers affiliated to the governing National Democratic Congress.

The legal practitioner said he would have expected that once Faddy had been arrested by the BNI, the editors of Al-hajj and the Catalyst newspapers ought to have been queried by the security agency.

The Ghanaian-Lebanese pilot and author, Fadi Daboussie was detained beyond the statutory 48 hours after he was arrested last Friday and released Sunday.

The security apparatus had taken note of his highly critical and incendiary political commentary against President John Mahama and his government.

He was bundled away after he descended from an Egypt Air flight from Lebanon midday last Friday.

In his latest articles, Faddy Daboussie alleged that the President has HIV/AIDS. He also suggested, the President had impregnated the daughter of the Ashanti King, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

“Those are the things that formed the basis of his arrest”, his lawyer explained to Joy News’ Beatrice Adu and added that “he hasn’t denied the claims. He stood by the story”.

The lawyer revealed that since his client was not the originator of the allegations, the BNI should turn their attention to the editors of the two pro-government newspapers.

The arrest has been condemned by pro-opposition party elements and a group of NPP loyalists has been planning to besiege the premises of the BNI Monday.

Faddy Daboussie was released before the planned Monday picket could see the light of day.
