Family Attacks Blacksmith In-Law

The battered face of Abdul Rahim Nurudeen

The people of Madina in Accra were left in consternation after a blacksmith was brutally attacked by his own in-laws because of his trade.

Abdul Rahim Nurudeen was on 22nd August 2019 beaten to pulp by a group of ‘machomen’ who were hired by the family of his partner, Halima.

A relative of Abdul Rahim, who spoke to DAILY GUIDE on conditions of anonymity explained that the victim was “attacked because he comes from a family of blacksmiths, and they don’t want Halima to end up with a blacksmith.”

He added: “Because they are rich and politically connected, they can get away with this type of wickedness. This can only happen in Ghana.”

As he was being whisked away, DAILY GUIDE managed to get a short interaction with Abdul Rahim, who said: “They have always warned me to stay away from Halima because they do not want anything to do with a family of blacksmiths. Halima got pregnant and when they got wind of it, this is the result (the attack).

“As they were beating me, my neighbours fled because they came with a lot of ‘machomen’.

They said they will be back. I just have to leave with Halima, because she is also not safe, especially in her condition,” Rahim concluded.

DAILY GUIDE’s attempt to speak to an elderly man identified as Halima’s father proved futile, as he was very hostile and busily giving instructions to the thugs doing his bidding.

It was gathered that he is a contractor and associated with personalities on the top echelons of Government.

As to whether or not the love between Halima and Rahim will overcome the hostility and keep them together, only time will tell.
