A 40-year-old farmer, David Owusu, has been jailed fifteen years in hard labour by the Suhum Circuit Court for having sexual intercourse with his biological daughter.
The convict was staying with his family at Anum-Apapam, a farming community in the Ayensuano District in the Eastern Region and started having sex with his primary school daughter forcefully when she was nine years old until she turned twelve.
The Prosecutor, Chief Inspector OwusuSekyere, briefing the court presided by Her Lordship Diana AduAsare, said the complainant, the mother of the victim, on December 26, 2020, went to church with her other children leaving behind the victim and her father.
The prosecutor said the father lured the daughter into his room and forcibly had sex with her.
According to the Prosecutor, the mother upon her return saw that their door was locked and she knocked several times without response.
Sheforcibly broke into the room and found her daughter and husband lying on their matrimonial bed naked.
The prosecution said the complainant enquired from the victim what was wrong but she declined to talk.
The Prosecutor continued that, the disappointed mother who couldn’t hold her tears and anger quickly rushed to the Suhum Police Station and lodgeda complaint.
The convict upon his arrest admitted the offence in his statement and pleaded for forgiveness after his daughter confessed the action of her father which lasted three years.
He was later charged and put before the court where he pleaded guilty and was convicted on his plea.
