Fianoo Rejects IMC  Role

Kudjoe Fianoo

It has emerged that Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) President, Kudjoe Fianoo has turned down his appointment as one of the five-member Interim Management Committee (IMC).

The Committee was set up by government to run the country’s football  in an attempt  to dissolve the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

Fianoo, a  former Chief Executive Officer of Ashgold, pulled out from the national call  after government rejected a proposal from his outfit (League clubs), having met the Sports Ministry a day before the announcement of the committee.

He cited unawareness of his inclusion of the committee by government as basis for his withdrawal.

Indications are that the outspoken administrator’s decision to pull out was clearly in solidarity with fellow members of GHALCA who are not in favour of the temporal ban on football activities.

Meanwhile, the Fianoo-led GHALCA are making frantic efforts to meet with government as a matter of urgency to address the current happenings in the game which has led to a ten-day injunction on football related matters in the country.

The five man committee from government released last week comprise Dr. Kofi Amoah businessman, Abedi Pele, former Black Stars Captain , Rev. Osei Kofi, ex Asante Kotoko/ Black Stars winger and Eva Okyere, legal practitioner,  Sports presenter with Peace FM, Dan Kweku Yeboah, as the spokesperson for the committee.

Today, members of the committee are expected to meet with the World’s football governing  body,  FIFA, who has instructed the inclusion of a Ghana Football Association (GFA) member, in Zurich.
