Fire Guts House

The burnt house

A FOUR-bedroom house has, reportedly, been burnt by an inferno at Atwima Techiman near Kumasi, in the Ashanti Region.

The blaze was said to have started around 1:30 p.m. on January 14, 2026, and it destroyed virtually all the electronic and other items in the house.

Firefighters were called to douse the blaze, but they rushed to the scene only to meet a totally burnt house, the Abuakwa Police has announced.

Even though the inferno destroyed everything inside the house, luckily no human injuries or deaths was recorded during the fire outbreak.

Abuakwa Divisional Police statement, which confirmed the fire outbreak, disclosed that the cause of the fire was still being investigated.

“On 14/01/2026 at about 1330 hours, the Denchembuoso Police responded to a report of a fire outbreak at Atwima Techiman where a four-bedroom house had been engulfed by fire.

“Fire personnel from Twedie were informed and a team rushed to the scene. However, the building had already been completely destroyed by the fire upon their arrival,” the police statement disclosed.

The police said the fire was so intense that the occupants of the house, Cynthia Afriyie and Mary Opoku, were unable to salvage any personal effects.

“No casualty was recorded. The value of the properties destroyed is yet to be assessed. Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the fire,” the police added.
