Fire on Tuesday evening gutted part of Parliament’s Job 600 office block.
Smoke was seen billowing from the 10th floor of the building which mainly serves as offices for parliamentarians.
Citi News’ Duke Mensah Opoku reported that the fire started at about 6pm.
He said about three fire tenders were immediately dispatched to help quench the fire.
Some staff at the legislative house looked on as Fire officers at the Parliament House worked to bring the situation under control.
The Majority leader, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu who spoke to the media said the fire personnel were working to salvage the situation.
“Even though we have this affliction, there shouldn’t be any cause for alarm. The fire people here are working round the clock to salvage the situation.”
The Public Relations Officer of the Ghana National Fire Service, Billy Anaglate said the situation has been brought uner control but investigations have started to look into the cause of the fire.
“It has affected the kitchenette and where the printing room is…Everything is under control so what we are doing now is to ventilate the place. Just a small portion of one office and a kitchenette that was affected,” he said.
