Yaw Dominic
A NINETEEN-year-old boy, Yaw Dominic, who sexually abused a second-year female student of Homase D/A Junior High School and impregnated her, has been jailed.
The sexual abuser, who also works as a galamsey operator, pleaded guilty to two counts of abducting and defiling a girl-child under age 16, contrary to sections 91 and 101 of Act 29/60 respectively.
Dominic was arrested by police on January 18, 2019, and charged with the offences. The prosecutor, Detective Inspector Stephen Ofori, told the court that the victim was 14 years old when the sexual abuse began in September last year.
He was jailed for eight years at the Bekwai Circuit Court yesterday after he had admitted having a series of sexual intercourse with the victim in his room, resulting in pregnancy.
Inspector Ofori narrated that Dominic’s crime was exposed after the grandmother of the victim had come forward to report the sexual abuse, which happened in the Homase community near Jacobu in the Amansie Central District of the Ashanti Region.
He added that police investigations revealed that the convict sometimes abducted the victim, and that his sexual relation with the girl-child made her truant, making her sleep outside home many times.
The prosecutor said medical examination conducted also corroborated the abuse and the pregnancy.
