GES Probes Savelugu SHS Food Situation

The Ghana Education Service (GES), has launched an investigation into the food situation at the Savelugu Senior High School in the Northern Region.

According to GES, management has sighted a video circulating on social media about an alleged poor food situation at Savelugu Senior High School, stressing that the Service prioritises quality feeding and views mismanagement as a serious offence, as it compromises government’s commitment to enhancing the feeding programme.

A statement signed by Daniel Fenyi, Head of Public Relations, GES, indicated that management acknowledges that the feeding of students has generally received a remarkable facelift, with an efficient collaboration between Buffer Stock and the School Heads.

“Management wishes to assure the public, especially parents, that the incident at Savelugu Senior High School is an isolated case and does not reflect the overall feeding status nationwide. Investigations have been initiated into the matter,” the statement pointed out.

He said in their continued commitment to ensuring quality feeding for students, the GES Monitoring Team will intensify its unannounced monitoring visits to schools.

“Stakeholders, and School Heads especially, are urged to promptly report any peculiar challenges they encounter to Management for timely intervention,” he noted.
