Laura Naa Lamley Mills has emerged second runner-up in the grand finale of the Miss Kanekalon 2018 hair beauty pageant.
The Kanekalon 2018 pageant was organised by Kaneka Corporation Japan, manufacturer of Kanekalon synthetic hair fibres, and came off with great success at the Landmark Hotel Events Centre in Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria.
Miss Kanekalon is a hair and beauty pageant that started in Nigeria and has expanded to Ghana since 2016. This year was its third edition.
The pageant was held under the theme: ‘Crowning The African Beauty’.
This is to encourage participants to take a step forward in realising their dreams. In keeping with the pageant’s objectives, participants were awarded. Twenty finalists who took part in the pageant were selected from regional screenings across Accra (Ghana), Delta, Port Harcourt and Lagos State in Nigeria.
From Ghana were five intelligent and beautiful finalists like Justina Amegatse (University of Professional Studies), Angela Twum (University of Professional Studies), Perpetual Acquah (University of Ghana), Nana Ama Yamoah (Ghana Institute of Journalism) and Laura Naa Lamley Mills (Ghana Institute of Journalism).
Miss Stephanie Iloabachie, a 20 year-old graduate of Sociology from the University of Port Harcourt, produced a stunning performance to win the coveted crown, doubling up as Miss Congeniality. She took home the grand prize of N3, 000, 000,000 (GH¢39,900) an additional N1, 500,000 (GH¢ 19,950) to execute a dream project and Kanekalon branded products.
Miss Treasure Obasi, a 20-year-old English graduate from the University of Lagos, was the first runner-up while Miss Laura Naa Lamley Mills, a 21- year- old level 300 student journalist from Ghana reading a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies at the Ghana Institute of Journalism, emerged the second runner-up.
Miss Obasi received 1.5 million Naira (GH¢ 19,950) and a Samsung flat screen TV while Miss Mills got 1 million Naira (GH¢13,300) and a Samsung table top fridge.
Ms Lucy Oparah, a 25-year-old student from Lagos, was adjudged best hair for Miss 2018 Kanekalon.
The guests at the event were treated to good food, drinks and entertained with comedy skits. Afro-pop sensation Kizz Daniel, the ‘Woju’ crooner, let out his tunes from his priceless catalogue.
