The second edition of Ghana Music Awards USA event will come off August 7 at the Tropicana Hotel in New Jersey, organisers have announced.
The award scheme, organised by Don’s Music Production, is aimed at honouring musicians in Ghana and those in the diaspora who are pushing the frontiers of Ghana music.
It was launched in Accra at the Omanye Hall of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly office On Thursday, December 17.
This was attended by a number of stakeholders in the music industry and the media.
Speaking at the ceremony, the CEO of GMA USA organisation, Dennis Boafo, reiterated the essence of the scheme, indicating it is aimed at “encouraging and recognising Ghanaian musicians in the diaspora, especially in the US to actively participate in promoting and celebrating Ghanaian music.”
He also used the opportunity to unveil members of the Academy and board of the award.
Members of the board, he noted, include President Of Creative Arts Council Mark Okraku Mantey, Kwesi Ernest of Media Excel Productions, celebrated music producer Kwame Micky, sound engineer Fred Kyei Mensah, and a host of others.
