ZEDEC Entertainment on Friday, August 5 announced a peace concert dubbed ‘Ghana United Concert’ to promote peace and oneness before and after Ghana’s 2016 general elections.
This was at a press ceremony held at the Accra City Hotel on Friday which attracted a number of dignitaries and government officials.
Among them were the Minister for Trade and Industry, Ekow Spio-Garbrah, and Deputy Minister of Tourism, Culture & Creative Arts, Dzifa Gomashie. There was also a representative from the UNAIDS and others.
Speaking at the ceremony, the CEO of Zedec, Habiba Nelson, said, “Election everywhere in the world raises a lot of passion and ZEDEC sought to find an effective way to redirect this emotions and create excitement at the same time preach positive message ahead of the 2016 election and generations to come.”
She added, “Music is a strong tool to remind Ghanaians to be one people regardless of our class, political parties and affiliations.”
She reminded Ghanaians that “having a peaceful election is what we must strive for to keep our beautiful country.”
Ekow Spio-Garbrah commended organisers of ZEDEC Entertainment for their desire to put up a peaceful concert ahead of 2016 polls, adding that it will also help contribute to Ghana’s national economy since the concert is also business-oriented.
He, therefore, encouraged Ghanaians to “continue to preach the message of people wherever you are.”
The Ghana United Concert is slated for October 7, 2016 at the Independence Square in Accra with a lot of artistes billed to perform on the night. It is being sponsored by GTP, Accra City Hotel, Kasapreko, DDP, Palace, Mentos, Royal Fabrics and more.
Among the top artistes who will be performing at the main event at the ceremony are Epixode and NiiLante.
