The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration has issued a travel advisory, cautioning against visiting the Gao and Ansongo regions of northern Mali.
This directive comes in response to the ongoing threat of terrorist activities along the Mali-Niger highways.
In a statement, the ministry urged Ghanaian citizens to prioritize their safety when traveling to the affected areas. “The Ministry remains committed to the safety of Ghanaians and will provide updates on the security situation in the region under reference in due course,” the statement read.
The travel advisory follows the deteriorating security situation in northern Mali, where terrorist groups have been active in recent months.
The ministry’s decision to issue the warning is a proactive measure to ensure the well-being of Ghanaian nationals traveling to the region.
Ghanaians are advised to exercise caution and closely monitor the evolving situation in northern Mali before making any travel plans. The ministry has promised to provide regular updates on the security conditions in the Gao and Ansongo regions to help citizens make informed decisions.
