The Chief Executive Officer of Yabour Ventures, Yaw Obour, has stated that the Ghana movie industry is coming up and not ‘dead’ as perceived by a section of the public.
The CEO, who has produced over 35 movies including “Me Nua”, “Mpaebo Tiefo”, “Kingkong” among movies admitted that the industry has challenges which ought to be solved, it does not merit the description given by some people that it is dead.
He, therefore, advised Ghanaians as well as his colleagues in the industry to stop painting a picture that the movie industry does not exist.
He urged Ghanaian movie producers to find innovative ways to promote movies whenever they produce them.
He believes that investing in the local movie industry would help the industry break into the global movie market.
According to him, investing in the movie industry by the stakeholders and government will also help the industry to kick-start streaming service to promote local movies on the world market.
He however called on subscription-based streaming service, Netflix, for a more inclusive and unbiased selection of Ghanaian movies on their platform.
He revealed that his outfit will soon go on set to shoot its new movie which will feature stars like Bill Asamoah, Kojo Nkansah, Nana Ama Mcbrown, Emelia Brobbey, Mercy Aseidu, Akrobeto, Agya Koo, Aka Ebenezer and many more.
