The Eastern Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Jeff Konadu Addo, has strongly condemned former Member of Parliament for Lower West Akim, Gifty Kleman, for her decision to run as an independent candidate in the upcoming elections.

Gifty Kleman, a former parliamentarian, was first elected as MP for Lower West Akim in 2004 and served two consecutive terms until 2012.
During her tenure, she held various portfolios.

In 2017, she was appointed CEO of the Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA), a position she held until her dismissal in 2020 amid allegations of misconduct.
She subsequently joined the Alan Kyerematen camp and quit the NPP after Alan formed his Movement for Change.
Despite her illustrious career, Kleman’s latest move has sparked outrage within the NPP ranks.
Jeff Konadu Addo accused her of being selfish and greedy, citing her past benefits from the party, including her MP tenure and GEPA appointment.

“Gifty Kleman is moving around, urging people to support her independent bid, but nobody is calling on her to contest,” Konadu Addo said in a radio interview.

“She’s undermining the party’s chances in the constituency, and this attitude won’t be tolerated,” he stated.

Gifty Kleman’s decision to run independently comes after she lost the NPP primary elections to the current MP.

She claimed the residents of Asamankese say the MP is underperforming, but Konadu Addo rejected this assertion, urging Gifty Kleman to work with the MP to improve the constituency instead of undermining him.

With the general elections looming, Konadu Addo emphasized the need for party unity, warning Gifty Kleman to desist from her independent bid or face consequences.

He urged party members to rally behind Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s presidential bid and ensure a resounding victory for the NPP.
