Govt Constructs GH¢6m Kojokrom Storm Drain

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate for Essikado-Ketan in the Western Region, Charles Bissue, has inspected the progress of work of a storm drain the government is constructing for the people of Kojokrom.

The ongoing project which is taking place precisely near the Kojokrom market is at a cost of GH¢6 million.

Addressing the media, Mr. Bissue explained that the project was in a response to a request made by the market women.

According to him the women complained about how the lack of a storm drain was adversely affecting their trading activities, particularly when it rains.

“The market women complained that because there was no storm drain whenever it rains the area will get flooded and cause havoc to their food stuffs and other products for sale,” he added.

He said, “The government then decided to construct the storm drain to among other things help to prevent the perennial flooding and promote food hygiene at the market”.

The assembly member for Kojokrom Electoral Area, Napoleon Agyemang Oduro, was grateful to the NPP government for the initiative, and described the project as a timely intervention.

He said the traders at the market have been going through a lot of problems for many years, particularly when it rains.

“So I decided to solicit help from institutions operating in our area but to no avail. However, when I discussed the issue with the NPP candidate for Essikado-Ketan, Charles Bissue, he assured that the government will initiate the project,” he stated.

Maame Ama, one of the market women on behalf of her colleagues thanked the government and assured that the constituents will vote massively for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and the NPP candidate, Charles Bissue in the upcoming general elections.
