The Greater Accra Regional branch of the Ghana Bar Association has launched its maiden Law Week, as parts of its mandate to organise and promote activities for the education and advancement of members and the general public.

The Law Week, which commences on July 2, 2025, will feature a full-day conference which focuses on three dynamic Continuing Legal Education (CLE) sessions that explore: how the world will look like in 2030, how AI is reshaping the legal landscape and the future of legal work.

Speaking at the launch of the event, President of the Greater Accra Regional Bar, Isabel Boateng noted that “We are going to think through the skills set, attitudes and mindset that will empower lawyers to stay relevant. The agenda is not only to build a legion of great lawyers, but great lawyers who will pay it forward by growing other great lawyers with intentionality.”

The conference will feature high-impact speakers across generations from private practice, academia, public service, and the tech sector, combining moderated panels, TED-style talks, film, and audience pledges.

The event will also launch the Regional Bar’s partnership with the Legal Aid Commission to enhance the provision of legal aid, and will culminate in the Greater Accra Bar Tech & Justice Commitment, where members will pledge to offer pro bono services, launch or support tech-enabled legal outreach, and collaborate for broader access to justice.

Madam Boateng indicated that “We are going to be awakened to a deeper consciousness about our roles in access to justice for all and how we can explore the innovation of our tech savvy young lawyers to increase access to justice.”

The Law Week also involves legal clinics that will serve as the pivot to build a more sustainable platform for access to justice.

Lawyers will offer free legal support to the public and underserved communities, reaffirming the Bar’s commitment to justice and service.

Again, it will feature an evening of fellowship and celebration with a live band, DJ, and buffet dinner for members of the Bar and select guests outside the profession.

“To ensure we have the quality of programming that will support the thinking and strategy for molding the future-fit lawyer, we have balanced the need to preserve the quality of with affordability which is reflected in the registration fees for members. You can trust that the value you will receive as a lawyer will more than compensate for the fees paid,” Madam Boateng added.
