A group calling itself Kwahu Forum for Truth has called for peace to reign in Kwahu, especially as the town prepares to host the annual Easter festivities.

According to the group, Easter represents far more than a religious observance with deep cultural rite, an annual pilgrimage that sees Kwahu’s sons and daughters returning home to the majestic mountains of their ancestors, hence any dispute would mar the celebration.

Convener of the Kwahu Forum for Truth, Kofi Boahen Dankwa, in a statement, said the country’s chieftaincy institution is at risk and may be chaotic if the traditional dispute going on in Kwahu is not stopped immediately.

According to the group, the case between Daasebre Akuamoah Agyapong ll and another Kwahu Paramount Chief is an affront to the chieftaincy institution.

The press statement called on the state and the people of Kwahu to uphold the dignity of their ancestors by defending the truth and shielding the sacred stool from the stains of corruption.

Mr. Dankwa commended Daasebre Akuamoah Agyapong ll for showing leadership, maturity and choosing the path of peace instead of violence amidst the extreme provocation, betrayal, and a brazen act of lawlessness at Kwahu.

“He has refused to engage in violence or retaliation. He has placed his trust in the rule of law, opting to let the judiciary address the illegality. This decision has not been easy. The occupation of his palace; the sacred seat of Kwahu cuts really deep. The people of Abene are anxious, dejected, and unsettled. But Daasebre has remained calm, patient, and resolute. He has heard the cries of his people, and he has initiated the necessary legal proceedings to challenge the imposter’s actions,” Mr. Dankwa noted.

The convener of Kwahu Forum for Truth indicated that the patience of Kwahuman is not weakness; it is strength and commitment to justice, not vengeance. A commitment to tradition, not thuggery.
