The body of the deceased has since been deposited at Bimbilla government hospital for preservation whilst the wounded is responding to treatment at the same hospital.

Northern Regional Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Yussif Mohammed Tanko, who confirmed the incident to DAILY GUIDE, said preliminary investigations revealed that the husband of the deceased, Abraham Bediako from Andani gate was the target but was not met.

He indicated that the son of the deceased, one Bediako Kamel 20, who was also in the room escaped unscathed.

According to Bediako Kamel, an unidentified gunman stood at their gate and shot whilst they were watching TV.

In a related development, three persons have been arrested in Bimbilla in the Northern Region with single-barrelled locally manufactured guns.

The suspects are Issah Sank, 25, Issah Amadu, 26 and Mohammed Seidu 26, all residents of Bimbilla in the Nanumba North district.

Northern Regional Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Yussif Mohammed Tanko, who confirmed the arrest to DAILY GUIDE, said police received information that the two factions in the Bimbilla area had intended to fight over which side had the right to play the traditional drum.

According to him, police and military stationed in the area moved to intensify their presence at vantage points and in the process arrested the suspects.

The suspects are currently in police custody assisting in investigations.

It will be recalled that the regent of Bimbilla, Nyelinboligu Naa Yakubu Andani Dasana, cancelled this year’s Damba festival upon an order from the Northern Regional Security Council (REGSEC), banning drumming and dancing in the area.
