The choir leaders cutting the anniversary cake
The choir of Immanuel Methodist Society, East Airport Accra, under the Airport East Circuit of the Northern Accra Diocese of the Methodist Church Ghana, climaxed its month-long anniversary celebrations with a thanksgiving service on Sunday and a musical concert last Saturday.
The choir had earlier in the month visited the LEKMA Hospital where it rendered soothing and inspirational songs to patients on admission and those visiting the facility to the admiration of all. Besides, it presented assorted items to the patients and the hospital.
Preaching the sermon at the anniversary service, Very Rev. Jacob William French, Superintendent Minister in charge of the Airport East Circuit, commended the choir for its dedication and commitment towards the spiritual and physical growth of the church.
He said the choir is the heartbeat of Methodism and plays a traditional and historical role in making worship and the work of God complete.
The Choirmaster of the Immanuel Methodist Choir, Dr. Joel Yarney, linked the history of the choir to the Immanuel Methodist Society which he said was an offshoot of the Calvary Methodist Church, Adabraka, one of the premier societies in the country from where it picked up the attributes of companionship, love and spirituality.
He said the Immanuel Methodist Choir would continue in addition to its normal services to worship and rejoice with those in joyous mood and commiserate with those who found themselves in difficult and painful situations or moments.
At its 20th anniversary thanksgiving service, the choir presented awards/citations to persons who continue to be of immense help to it such as Prof. K.E. de Graft-Johnson, Mr. Kwesi Abbey Sam, Mrs. Alice Aquaye, Mr. Emmanuel Botchwey, Mrs. Grace Lartey, Dr. Lily Yarney, Mrs. Patience Adjei, Mr. Kow Arkhurst, Mrs. Christiana Dei, Mrs. Grace Kyere, Mr. Fiifi Brandful, Mr. Jeffrey Lartey, Mrs. Grace Mensah, Mrs. Esther Pokoo Aikins, Lady Eileen Erskine and Mr. Chris Lartey.
The Winneba Youth Choir joined the Immanuel Methodist Society Choir at the Anniversary Musical Concert last Saturday.
