ISD, GRA Take E-Levy Sensitisation To Upper East

Officials of ISD and GRA giving public education on the E-Levy

THE INFORMATION Service Department (ISD) is partnering the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) in the Upper East Region to sensitise residents on the Electronic Transactions Levy (E-Levy) introduced by government this year.

A press statement signed by the Regional ISD Director, Bennin Douri Issifu, said the public education campaign on the E-Levy which started in Bolgatanga on May 20, 2022, has become necessary following low public knowledge about the new levy.

For over one week, personnel from the ISD and the GRA will be at various public places, including market places and lorry parks, spreading campaign messages in the form of handbills, one-on-one communication with individuals and groups of people.

Information vans will go through some principal streets, personnel from the two organisations will also have some radio interviews and visit churches and mosques in the Bolgatanga Municipality, as well as other districts.

The campaign will be held in other districts and municipalities in the region to ensure that many more residents and Ghanaians in general understand the reason for the E-Levy, and accept it as one of the channels of mobilising money to develop the country.

Ahead of the public education, there have been varying concerns and confusion on the streets of the Bolgatanga Municipality over the introduction of the levy.
