TWO PRISONERS serving their time in a penitentiary at Bekwai in the Ashanti Region have reportedly escaped.
The escapees have been identified as Emmanuel Abakah, aged 24, and Nana Antwi, who is also believed to be 22 years old.
The bandits were said to have escaped on Friday, March 5, 2021, right in the presence of two policemen.
A police report seen by the DAILY GUIDE indicated that both policemen that were on duty at the time were in trouble now.
PW/LCPL Joyce Kwantwi and L/CPL Foster Agbokah, who were on duty when the duo escaped, have been given 10 days to recapture them.
The police report said around 6:20am on the fateful day, the two policemen were assisting a certain labourer to clean the cells.
Suddenly, both inmates pushed the metal gate in front of the cells and absconded, leaving no trace of their whereabouts.
The two policemen on duty at the time quickly reported the jail break incident to their leaders, as a search for the duo commenced.
Meanwhile, unconfirmed reports said through the tireless efforts of the police, one of the escapees had been apprehended.
The identity and exact location where the said escapee was nabbed was not disclosed.
