The event successfully brought together the Indian community in a joyous display of heritage, harmony, and hope for the new year.
Ugadi is the traditional New Year festival celebrated in the Indian states of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana. The name “Ugadi” comes from the Sanskrit words “Yuga” (age) and “Adi” (beginning), symbolising the start of a new era.
Falling in the spring season (usually March or April), Ugadi marks new beginnings, prosperity, and hope. People celebrate by cleaning their homes, wearing new clothes, preparing festive foods like Ugadi Pachadi, and participating in prayers and cultural activities. It’s a time for families to come together, reflect on the past year, and welcome the future with optimism.
