A young man, lbrahim Iddrissu Shummah, has been arrested by the police over threats he made in a viral video.
Shummah was seen threatening to attack and promise to prevent people from voting in the upcoming flagbearer elections of the New Patriotic Party in the Assin Central Constituency.
The suspect is currently in custody as the police conduct investigations.
Shummah, an ardent supporter of Kennedy Agyapong, had vowed that delegates who vote for Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia would be physically assaulted.
He also added that police and soldiers would not be allowed into the constituency voting center, stressing that only Agyapong delegates would be given access to the voting materials.
The video has sparked outrage on social media, with many people condemning such behavior.
Many people have called for the arrest and prosecution of Shummah, saying that violence and threats have no place in politics. The upcoming delegates’ election should be free, fair, and peaceful. It is essential for politicians and their supporters to realize that peaceful elections are key to the growth and development of any democratic society.
