Kenpong Academy Calls For Fair Officiating

Division One campaigners, Kenpong FC, is calling for fair officiating ahead of their league clash against Nations FC at Abrankese, Kumasi on Sunday.

The special plea comes on the heels of the recent not too impressive officiation at some centres.

To the president of Kenpong FC, Mr. Kennedy Agyepong, the decision of some of the referees dampen spirit of the players.

He cited their game against Ebusua Dwarfs where they (Kenpong FC) were shown two red cards.

He said in an interview, “All we are asking for is fairness. We have suffered some poor decisions from some referees in the past, even on home grounds.

“In fact, such decisions affect the boys psychologically, it dampens their spirits. They are young folks and I think they should be encouraged rather than discouraging them. We suffered bad officiation (red cards) in our games against Skyy FC, All Blacks and other games. Please let’s encourage them by being fair regarding officiation.

“Kenpong FC is a club dedicated to Asanteman and playing on Ashanti soil means a lot to us.  Otumfuo is like grandfather to me. I was scheduled to travel to Qatar this weekend to firm up preparations for the World Cup, but I will reschedule and be there for the game.”

The businessman said his love for Kotoko grew beyond bounds when the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II offered him (Kenpong) the opportunity to serve the club in 1999 as management member, and later as a board member in 2003 on the PV Obeng-led board.

Last year, the club paid a courtesy call on the Asantehene, who blessed them and charged them to strive for excellence.

Meanwhile, Kenpong Travel and Tours have announced that hotel rooms are available for football fans with tickets but with accommodation at affordable rates.
