Kenneth Agyei Kuranchi
A book on journalism “Principles Of Applied And Practical Journalism” and authored by Kenneth Agyei Kuranchi will be launched at the College of Surgeons And Physicians on Wednesday.
As a book authored by a practitioner, Ken Kuranchi as he is fondly known said in a foreword that ‘Journalism in Ghana has come a long way since the nation was a British Colony. Over the period, it has produced several notable journalists.’
His book he said is intended to fill “the void of a course called Journalism that teaches journalism directly as a course” and present the subject from a practitioner’s standpoint, in contrast from the academic perspective.
The publication he went on ‘is a notable piece of work, produced by a Ghanaian, and needs to be celebrated.’
With over 25 years in newspaper production the author was imprisoned in 2013 for ten days by the Supreme Court after challenging the integrity of the controversial adjudication of the Presidential Election Petition.
Ken is the author of other books, ‘In Search of Vengeance’ and a children’s book- ‘Rabbit, The Lizard and the Sparrow’.
Ken could not complete his secondary education but by dint of perseverance he now holds a degree in Sociology and Philosophy from the University of Ghana, as well as a Bachelor of Laws certificate awarded from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology through the Mountcrest College in Accra.
