KOD and Berla Mundi
The 21st Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMAs) will take off tonight via a virtual event, after an unusual break in the event’s calendar as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The award will be held on three nights, beginning from today, Friday, August 28 through to August 30.
Among award-winning artistes to perform are Kuami Eugene, Kofi Mole, Efya, Ras Kuuku, Kofi Kinaata, King Promise, Kwesi Arthur, Medikal and a host of others.
The late Ebony Reign’s reign as the artiste of the year will come to an end, should another artiste win that category at the ceremony dubbed ‘The VGMA Weekend’.
Charterhouse, organisers of the prestigious award ceremony, has in an earlier statement, indicated that the event will celebrate “steep culture, vivacious music and iconic artistes.”
Most often, Charterhouse keeps the hosts of the event as a surprise to all patrons.
It, therefore, comes as no surprise that the hosts, as of yesterday, were kept as a secret from the public.
However, NEWS-ONE has gathered that Kofi Okyere Darko (KOD), Berla Mundi, Giovanni Caleb and Sika Osei will be the hosts for this year’s event, which will be broadcast live on TV3.
The pair of Giovani Caleb and Sika Osei, who hosted the VGMAs red carpet experience during the 2019 event, will kick off the show tonight.
Then Berla, who co-hosted the award in 2018 and 2019, will take over the next day with KOD.
This makes it the fourth time that KOD is hosting the major night aside from hosting many years of the industry event. He was also the first red carpet host for the VGMAs.
Over the years, several distinguished personalities within the Ghanaian media who graced the stages of the VGMA have made the show exciting, and same is expected of the 2020 hosts who all have a history with the ceremony.
